What roofing should I plan for in Santa Rosa del Aguaray?

Plan for hail and strong storms. On 3 October 2026 large hail damaged the homes and sheet-metal roofs of about 150 families in the district, and residents were still waiting for emergency aid days later (ABC Color). A sturdier roof system and well-fixed sheeting are worth considering.

Does the Aguaraymí River flood?

It has. ABC Color reported in March 2019 that the Aguaraymí overflowed after constant rain, cutting roads and flooding brickworks in districts including Santa Rosa, and Última Hora reported flooding in Santa Rosa del Aguaray in December 2016. For its own works, the Intendencia of the Municipalidad de Santa Rosa del Aguaray approves plans and technical specifications by resolution, as in Resolución I.M. 194/2026 for a university classroom. Santa Rosa del Aguaray Today

Santa Rosa del Aguaray became a district on 6 June 2002 under Ley 1931/02, split from Nueva Germania, and had 39,643 residents in the 2022 census. ABC Color (June 2022) calls it the main economic center of San Pedro department, citing investment by financial and credit institutions, farming from family plots to large-scale operations, hotels and tourism, and the role of Brazilian settlers and Mennonite colonies. It has direct road links north to Concepción and Amambay.

Severe weather is the main site risk: on 3 October 2026 a hailstorm damaged homes, including sheet-metal (chapa) roofs, of about 150 families in rural communities of the district (ABC Color). River flooding has hit the area too: ABC Color reported in March 2019 that the overflowing Aguaraymí cut roads and left about 450 brickworks under water across districts including Santa Rosa, and Última Hora listed Santa Rosa del Aguaray in December 2016 among the districts hit when the Ypané, Aguaraymí and Jejuí rivers overflowed. Roads are a weak point: in November 2025 a motorcyclist died after hitting a pothole on Ruta PY11 in the district (ABC Color).

Why Investors Build in Santa Rosa del Aguaray

Farmland is the main draw, with large-scale agriculture run largely by Brazilian settlers alongside family farming and Mennonite colonies (ABC Color, June 2022). The municipality funds some public works with royalties; in April 2026 it approved plans for a classroom at the local branch of the Universidad Nacional de Caaguazú, to be paid from royalties. Laguna Blanca, the district's main tourist attraction, still needs all-weather road access according to La Nación (June 2025).
